Child and adolescent psychotherapy in Southend-on-Sea

Iโ€™m Rebecca Reed, a BACP-registered psychotherapist working with children and teenagers, including those who are autistic or have ADHD. I offer a space to explore what might be going on beneath anxiety, big feelings or difficulties at school. I also meet with parents so we can think together about what their child is experiencing and what might help.

What you might be noticing

Your child seems anxious about school, or getting there has become difficult

They hold everything together during the day, then become overwhelmed at home

Big feelings, meltdowns or withdrawal are leaving you unsure how to help

Youโ€™re wondering whether autism, ADHD or sensory differences are part of the picture

Your child seems misunderstood, and you want someone to look beyond their behaviour

My Approach

We can take time to understand what your child is experiencing and find a way of working that feels right for them. I donโ€™t see children as problems to be fixed, and Iโ€™m interested in more than the behaviour we can see.

There isnโ€™t one way a child has to express themselves. Some children talk; others find it easier to play, draw or do something alongside me. I also make space to think with parents about what theyโ€™re noticing and how we can support their child together.

Hi!

Iโ€™m a BACP-registered psychodynamic psychotherapist with more than a decade of experience in education, SEND and autism support.

How We Can Work Together

Because sustainable change happens through connection, my core model blends weekly individual therapy for your child with regular parent sessions so we can think together.

Individual Therapy

A gentle, creative space for your child to explore their emotional world, safely unpack big anxieties, and navigate lifeโ€™s challenges at their own pace.

Parent Support

You don't have to figure this out alone. I work side-by-side with you to help decode what is happening beneath the surface, helping you trust your instincts and navigate the path forward.

School Support

I can provide regular therapy sessions within a childโ€™s school, where appropriate, as well as liaising thoughtfully with parents and school staff. My experience as a teacher and SENCO helps me understand the wider educational context around each child.

Schools and professionals are welcome to contact me to discuss referrals or commissioned therapeutic support.

A glimpse inside the therapy room

Therapy doesnโ€™t always mean sitting and talking. The room is designed to give children and young people different ways to play, create, explore and express themselves.
